Princess Diana Expected to Dance with Baryshnikov instead of Travolta

The Monarch had completely different plans about the event.
John Travolta remembers dancing with “the Queen of People’s hearts” as one of the brightest memories of his life. However, the same couldn’t be said about Princess Diana, who probably even couldn’t imagine such refusal.
During the official visit to US, the princess was honored with a special acceptance at the White House by President Ronald Reagan and his wife. Among the official guests was also admitted John Travolta, whose epic dance with Diana made history.
Yet the princess herself wanted another man to be next to her and that was the ballet dancer Michael Baryshnikov. The latter had to refuse dancing with the royal because of ankle pain.
