According to Render, Scientologists could not allow Kidman to take a Hollywood star away from their influence. After all, Cruz has been the most influential adept of this cult for many years. Members actively meddled in the actor’s private affairs and managed his closest circle.

Catholic Kidman posed a threat to Scientologists. She did not join their networks and could persuade Cruz to leave the group. So, they started to exert pressure on the artist, alleging that his wife obstructed his spiritual growth. Cruz subsequently separated from his partner even before filing for divorce.
