He was too impatient to do it gradually.

Shaquille O’Neal’s actions scared the hell out of American Express. The company had to contact the NBA player to ensure everything was fine.

Shaq admitted to buying a lot of stuff for his house after moving from Miami. The sportsman spent 70.000 US dollars in one outing. With such action, he shocked not only the payment card company but also one of the biggest supermarket chains in the US, Walmart. As soon as the athlete came to the cashier to pay for everything, his AE card stopped working.

O’Neal said during the interview with James Corden he got the phone call from the bank’s headquarters about his possibly stolen wallet. The employees couldn’t believe it was actually the player’s doings.

“I have the biggest purchase in Walmart history. So, 2 or 3 in the morning, I got to go get four or five TVs, printers, appliances, sheets, towels, underwear, T-shirts. So, at the end, it was $70,000. So, I put my credit card in. Got declined. And I put it back in, said declined again. So now I’m saying, ‘I know I’m not broke. Then the American Express security called me, ‘Hey, man. Somebody stole your credit card and they spent $70,000 at Walmart.”
