Liam Payne was not always an exemplary student at school and often got disciplined. One of his punishments resulted in acquiring a phobia for life.
For his less-than-stellar behavior, the singer had to wash tons of dirty dishes in the school kitchen. After the experience, the pop star was always worried about spoons in restaurants and other people’s homes being unclean, so he refused to use them.
According to MTV, Payne wasn’t the only one with a spoon problem; it turned out there was a name for this condition: koutaliaphobia.
“It is a bit weird. When I was a kid I was a bit naughty at school and when you were naughty they made you do the washing up. I had to wash all these nasty spoons and then it’s just stuck with me after. I don’t know what people are doing with their spoons, I don’t want to know!”
