The Hollywood star hoped her public image would do the magic.
Reese Witherspoon went too far with protecting her husband, Jim Toth. The actress was rude to law enforcement authorities, and her words would later become a major headache.
In 2013, TMZ and many other media representatives shared the video of the “Legally Blonde” star breaking the law. In a video, Reese and her spouse were stopped by police for drunk driving. And instead of apologizing and taking responsibility, Witherspoon shouted at the cop and threatened his career.
In a few days, Reese appeared on ABC and finally confessed that everything she said was untrue. Even her statement about pregnancy was a pure lie to save her beloved man.
“We went out to dinner and we had one too many glasses of wine. We thought we were fine to drive and we absolutely were not. We know better and we shouldn’t have done that. I have no idea what I was saying that night. I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked. I said all kinds of crazy things. I told them I was pregnant. I’m not pregnant. I was so disrespectful to him. There are so many lessons learned. When a police officer tells you to stay in the car, you stay in the car.”
