Pink tried to shield her daughter from the worst, but it was what it was. Even the singer’s successful composition didn’t do the trick.
On the VMA music awards stage, Pink’s speech addressed to her little daughter brought everybody to tears. The singer recalled a talk with the girl when the latter confessed not to consider herself beautiful — “a boy with long hair”.
Even though Pink’s “Perfect” sent the secret message of always loving yourself, the artist had to remind her baby once more that appearance meant nothing.
“When people make fun of me, that's what they use. They say that I look like a boy, or I'm too masculine, or I have too many opinions, or my body is too strong. And I said to her, I said, ‘Do you see me growing my hair?’ She said, ‘No mama.’ I said, ‘Do you see me changing my body?’ ‘No mama.’ ‘Do you see me changing the way I present myself to the world?’ ‘No mama.’ ‘Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?’ ‘Yes mama.’”
