Nicole Kidman Broke A Rib Getting into A 'Moulin Rouge' Corset

Nicole Kidman went to great lengths for one of her roles. She was so obsessed with her character that disregarded the health damage it cost her.

For 1996’s “The Portrait of a Lady”, Nicole Kidman wore a corset to whittle her waist down to 19 inches. But that wasn’t the last time she risked her own well-being for filming. The star broke her rib twice trying to fit into a corset during the production of 2001’s “Moulin Rouge”.

Guesting on the Graham Norton Show, Kidman shared she had never done that much work to prepare for a role as she did for “Moulin Rouge”. Nicole wanted to get her waist down to 18 inches, like Vivien Leigh in “Gone With the Wind”.
