Besides his genius in fashion, Karl Lagerfeld had one more “talent” that Meryl Streep revealed. The Vogue representative confirmed actress’ words.
The Channel designer blamed the Hollywood star for choosing the dress of another house for her 2017 Oscar appearance. The problem, according to Lagerfeld, was that he and his team had already started the work on Streep’s outfit when they learned about the change in plans. Because Karl’s statement was stone-hearted, Meryl hurried to clear things up.
The actress claimed the designer’s words were all a lie, even though he had apologized. Sometime after, Vogue international editor Suzy Menkes admitted the fashion icon was famous for his controversial attitude.
“I do not take this lightly, and Mr. Lagerfeld's generic ‘statement’ of regret for this ‘controversy’ was not an apology. He lied, they printed the lie, and I am still waiting.”
“He was a very witty man and he would make outrageous comments about all sorts of things, and then often try to cover it up and explain that, no, he didn't mean that at all.”
