Jay Z didn’t acquire the post of Def Jam Recordings president accidentally. Not even the hard work of the rapper did the magic.
The label’s CEO, L.A. Reid, once confessed that Mariah Carey was the one to secure the prestigious workplace for the Grammy winner. In a Rap Radar podcast, Reid mentioned he needed some help, and the woman rushed to suggest Z as the candidate. Although it all worked, one thing remained suspicious. The artist appeared at the office minutes after CEO’s and Mariah’s talk.
