John Galliano Was Fired from Dior after Antisemitic Video

Such an attitude never leads to anything good.

Christian Dior was lucky to survive. John Galliano’s behavior could have broken all respect toward the fashion house.

Over 10 years ago, the Internet exploded with a video of a notorious designer drunkenly insulting Jewish people. It was clear that the Dior representative had no control over own actions. The misconduct caused him great scandal and hatred.

As James Lawson, director of Ledbury Research, said in a conversation with the Financial Times, the incident could have destroyed the brand’s reputation too. John was eventually fired.

“The brand is even bigger than Galliano. As an individual he did something wrong but as long as the brand is quick to show to its consumers that this is not behavior they would tolerate, the brand can survive. It helps that Galliano is not the [brand] name.”
