A whole decade the talent of Andoni Bastarrika, a self-taught artist from Spain’s Basque Country, was known only to his close surroundings. All of a sudden one of his countrymen shared Andon’s works and a worthy fame came to the talented artist.
Initially, he just made huge figures out of sand to entertain the kids on the beach. Later he discovered the talent of a painter and couldn’t stop anymore. His new techniques of getting very authentic sand sculptures of animals, just shock.
Once photos of his sculptures went viral on the internet, Andoni started holding master-classes for the interested people. The main tool is the sculpture’s hands that do the lion’s share of the work. On the second stage he goes on adding the second layer of realism that will need extra means like toothpicks, brushes and other small tools will be in need.
