The sports icon chose the wrong path.

Pro athlete and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong was seen as an inspiration by people around the world. However, in 2012 he disillusioned his supporters.

On October 22, 2012, Lance was formally stripped of the seven Tour de France titles and banned for life from competitive cycling after admitting guilt in doping and steroids usage. He took the supplements to enhance his performance during the race. In a press conference, the UCI president stated that Armstrong lost his place in sports.

It was a dramatic fall of the leader.

"Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling, and he deserves to be forgotten in cycling.”
