The star accepted his mistake.
If it wasn’t for Hugh Jackman’s attentive make-up artist, the actor might not be alive now. The root of all evil was a small mark on the face.
When Hugh Jackman’s make-up artist first discovered a mark on the star’s nose in November 2013, he thought it was a spot of blood caused by the Wolverine claws. The artist noticed it for the second time a week later, which gave Hugh and his wife food for thought.
Later, The “X-Men” star took to his social media account and posted a picture of his bandaged-up nose, thanking his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness. He went to the doctor on her advice and was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. The star mentioned that he never wore sunscreen growing up, so he was a prime candidate.
All together, Jackman had four skin cancers removed, three from his nose and one from his shoulder. He launched a line of sunscreen for kids, Pure Sun Defense, and wanted to raise awareness of how sun exposure can lead to severe complications.
“Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basal cell carcinoma. Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!”
