Tom Cruise Was Going to Become a Priest before Switching to Acting

Like his movies, Tom Cruise’s life and career were full of surprising twists and turns. A few know that becoming a Hollywood star was not always Tom’s desire. Before, he dreamt of a different profession.

In his teenage years, the actor wanted to become a Catholic priest. Father Ric Schneider’s sermon inspired him to attend the seminary. According to his friend Shane Dempler, Cruise was really interested in the priesthood. The two liked to spend their time in the chapel listening to God stories.

Then everything changed. Tom couldn’t accomplish his goal as he was asked to leave St. Francis Seminary at Cincinnati University for stealing alcohol. The future performer forfeited seminary and, with it, any plans for the church.
