Selena Gomez decided not to go public with everything that’s happened in her life. The singer preferred to keep her struggles a secret until she gathered enough courage to speak up.
In 2017 the musician underwent a serious surgery of kidney transplant. Selena’s best friend, Francia Raisa, became her donor. Both kept the painful experience under wraps. Four years after the life-saving operation, on World Kidney Day, Selena shared a candid post with her scar:
“When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar. I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I’m proud of that.”
